Hello passionate bloggers! This is my first blog ever and so I'm going to kick it off by telling you a bit about my self. Firstly, I love helping people. I'm originally from Colombia, South America and I'm the Principal industrial and graphic designer at Neoforma Design. I'm a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and I've been helping companies for over 20 years to improve upon people's lives.
I believe technology and products that address people’s needs can shift attitudes and bring joy and positivity to their lives. I’m interested in products and systems that return the person to a human scale of experience - touch, emotion, intimacy, satisfaction, and fulfillment of essential needs. I believe good design is an act of compassion that improves upon or eliminates the problems of others or enhances their lives. Creativity (or divergent thinking) and innovation are the byproducts of our ability to share what others feel without judgement.
In this blog, I would like to share thoughts about progress and the process of design within this project and others. This will be a place to provide feedback and any suggestions. I look forward to honesty and passion.
I hope to discuss any narrative that relates to improving upon people's lives. This project has been a kind of healing project for me personally and I believe that it can help others to heal also. I think our environment, economy, and social issues need to be healed as well. I'm hoping this is just one small step in that direction. I hope to discuss other projects I'm working on and how they help to change. I look forward to learning about your projects and efforts be them to help a community, or a need to change a culture within a company, or just a simple walk in the park.
Together with my family and some friends, we've been building the UNA chair story and video to launch in a crowd funding campaign. The link will be provided shortly.
I encourage you to please comment about anything in this blog. It doesn't just have to be about the UNA chair. Categories have been provided. I look forward to seeing how this evolves over time. If you prefer to email me, please do so at paul@neoformadesign.com or call me at (412) 688-9225. Or, you may contact me via snail mail at 100 43rd Street, Suite 211, Pittsburgh, PA 15201. I ask that people be respectful and professional. No spamming please.
